I love the feeling after a walk or work-out. The I-can-conquer-anything feeling. It puts a spring in my step. So why, too often, do I phizzle? Or why do I not “Just Do It” as Nike would say?
Too busy? Too tired? Motivation and inspiration – or lack thereof? The buddy-system definitely helps. Last night, although cold, several of us attended a beautiful, candle-light walk on the General Dacey Trails in Shelbyville. My sister and I discussed that we would not have attended it by ourself, but by going with a group, we were motivated. So were approximately 300 other walkers! The light dusting of snow, the ~ 400 luminarias, the bonfire, the friends, the hot apple cider and hot chocolate – all made for a beautiful event. Thank you to all the volunteers that made it possible.
This evening my husband suggested a walk. It was 34 degrees and very windy. But, since he was going, I thought I might as well go, too. It was brisk…and invigorating. I would not have left the warmth of the house without a little encouragement from someone else.
I have found www.pinterest.com. It is so much fun!! I was perusing fitness, motivation, etc. One picture is so simple, but so positive. Believe it and it will happen. Say it and it’s so:
Yep, there it is. A simple affirmation. I love it.
Since I really am an active person…in just a bit of a rut or the winter doldrums…maybe the bigger problem is that chocolate talks to me. It knows me by name. It calls to me from the places I have hid it from my boys. An addition to the problem could be that I have the appetite of a lumberjack.
Definitely must find the motivation and inspiration to exercise…..frequently.
I am working on it but I don’t love it yet. Chocolate is my crack.
Janie, I know I will not give up/reduce my eating…so, I gotta burn some calories. Keep after it!
You can do it! I’m just getting back to it … and feel the same way you described in your first paragraph : ) Even had a great work out today!! YAY!!
Lisa, I’m glad to hear you are able to get back at it. Progress in the recovery!!!
