Expect the Unexpected

Working with livestock is always interesting.  It makes you live by the words, “Expect the unexpected.”  It’s almost like raising kids.  Except if an animal really gives you trouble or costs too much money, you have the option of sending it to market.  That’s about the only difference.  😉

We usually have a 4-H project or two around.  Currently, those projects are a steer, a heifer and three pigs.  The beef cattle are my favorite.  It’s nice to work with the cattle with a partner.  One person can lead (pull) another can tail (push).  Tailing isn’t bad, unless they are having projectile-poo.  It happens.

After the poo flies...

My son was amused:

My younger son was helping the next day.  He was tailing.  🙂  He asked, “And you wonder why I don’t like working with cattle?”  He prefers the pigs.  However, they projectile-poo, too.  We remembered the time it happened in a show ring.  Thankfully, it wasn’t our pig.  I was watching my son watch the projectiling pig.  We were both laughing…  We amuse easily.  It’s a gift.
