One Weed at a Time

For reasons I can only mark up to TENACITY, the weeds are trying to overtake our little ol’ farm.  I have been somewhat amazed by the weeds on the east side of our open-sided, east-facing livestock barn.  They have slowly stalked (pun intended) inwards…I assume to escape some of the hot, morning sun’s rays?  They have gotten closer and closer to Happy’s indoor pen.  Maybe taunting him across the electric fence with their lush greenness when everything in his barnyard turned crispy brown?

Last night, as I fed Happy, I decided the weeds have got to go!  Seriously, I wondered, why haven’t I done something with them before now?  I then remembered all the busy summer evenings of chores with the 4-H projects … and the awful heat … and how badly we would all just want a cool drink, a shower and the air conditioning after said chores.  The weeds just didn’t make it to the top of anyone’s Urgent List.  They are now on my Urgent List.  I mean really…it’s embarassing to have weeds that I could make a haunted maze through.  I’m sure the spiders would cooperate and make webs for it.  Spiders give me the heebie-jeebies.  No wading in the middle of the weeds for me.  I will tackle it one weed at a time.

But not tonight, I have plans with my son.  Oh, and darn…I have a walk with a friend scheduled for tomorrow night.  Oops, the two nights after that are already booked, too.  Saturday morning?  Okay…I guess.  Well, it’s that or tackle the bedroom that I put off organizing and cleaning last Saturday…

Definitely not urgent.
