Spooked by a spider

Yesterday’s surprise happened during evening chores.  I noticed that Abigail, the expectant heifer, needed fly spray applied.  The sprayer is kept in the pig room of the barn, since nothing currently is housed there.  When I opened the door, one of those big huge monstrous, black, hairy spiders leaped out me.  It actually sort of fell onto the door jamb, but at first I thought it jumped toward me.  I did a few seconds of a Lord of the Dance jig (barn/gum-boot interpretation).  Scary-spider scurried into hiding.  I grabbed the sprayer while feeling creepy crawlies all over me and got the heck out of there.

After I sprayed Abigail, I debated finding a new place to store the sprayer, but then pig-farmer wouldn’t know where it was and I would probably forget where I moved it.  So,  when I approached the door to the pig room, I banged on it before opening.  “Hello?  Anyone there?  Get your creepy self outta’ my way!”  Thankfully, none of the people that had been in-and-out throughout the day were around to see/hear the exchange.

After making rice krispy treats at 5:15 a.m. for my son’s work picnic … and drinking (lots of) coffee… this morning is bright and beautiful.  No spiders were haunting.

I couldn’t help noticing all the cuteness in your post, but the hairy-monster spider got all the press! I love the “antenna” ears. I guess the rabbit’s been replaced in the current age. 😉
