Times have sure been a changin’ around here. Not just one, but both of my boys have moved to their college apartments. Dang. Talk about change. Talk about living the quiet life! I have reminded myself numerous times that this is a good sign of progress in all our lives. After all, our goal as parents is to help our kids achieve to the best of their ability. So, I tell myself. Yada yada yada.
Anywho, after the trips and trauma of moving the boys, I am trying to settle into a new routine. Pig-farmer has been on the road with business-travel this week. Again, talk about quiet. Pig-farmer is, by far, the noisiest of the household. So far, I have figured out that my farm-work + August temperatures + errands & trips to town = a lot of showers each day. I wish I could say I “dew” up like a sweet, Southern gal; but no, my good ol’ German heritage from my Dad’s side makes me sweat like a glass of iced tea sitting on a 90 degree front-porch. But, I don’t look at all refreshing.
So, my new routine (at least for these remaining scorchers of summer) involves working at a slower pace when outside. What’s the hurry anyway? Try to do most of the physical work early in the morning, then switch to jobs in the house, errands &/0r outside jobs that aren’t so draining – such as sitting my rear on the riding mower.
On with the show. Happy is hee-hawing, wondering why I’m late getting outside this a.m.
Love the photo of Happy. Also, did you load that tree into the truck yourself?? Because if you did….dang, you’re impressive!
Yes, I did … you would think I would lose some weight, wouldn’t you? Unfortunately, I have the appetite of a lumberjack!!
Happy is so handsome.
He is a dandy, too!
Enjoy the quiet while you can! My friend’s sons moved out for about a year, then moved back home. You did capture the sun’s rays, always a welcome sight in a photo. Happy does look happy, and I imagine the goats will be, too, with their new space.
Agreed – next fall my oldest will live at home if he gets a student-teaching assignment close enough. Thanks for commenting!
They all come back, sooner or later. Sometimes alone, sometimes with friends, sometimes they don’t ever want to leave again. Enjoy your space!!!

🙂 I’m hearing this from lots of empty-nesters. Must be something to it.
GREAT POST! Looks like your mule wants a hug!
He loves attention, for sure!
