Because that is not how I roll.
It started with me perusing some photos I had taken of our front porch. I posted one on Facebook and asked, “What color should I paint the front porch door?” It was great fun reading the replies. But this crazy mom can not just paint a door. It went like this:
Stand on porch and ponder.
Notice how dusty the siding has gotten during the summer.
Wash the siding.
Wash the windows that got splattered and spotted during the washing of the siding.
Decide that now would be a good time to weatherproof the wood porch, too.
Decide I may as well buy enough primer and some white paint for the wooden fence-section in the flower bed while I’m buying deck-cleaner and weatherproofer.
Notice the tin pumpkin decoration has faded.
Buy orange spray paint.
Decide that even though it is windy, go ahead and spray paint the tin pumpkins since they are out in the middle of nowhere.
Wonder why I can’t see well.
Check eye-glasses.
Realize the orange spray paint drifted and speckled my glasses.
Realize that although they are now cute for Halloween … I don’t have enough money for “seasonal” glasses.
Scratch paint off glasses at random times.
Start priming the door.
Chase dogs out of paint supplies.
Shut indoor cats into a bedroom since I have to have the door ajar.
Return to priming the door.
Prime the fence.
Paint the door.
Add another coat.
Paint the bird-feeder.
One more coat should finish the door …
That, my friends, is why I can’t just paint a door.
(If you didn’t see the finished door in my last blog, you may check it out here: https://justmakethecoffee.com/2013/09/27/photo-friday-9/ .)
It’s so good to know that I am not alone out there.. My best laid out days often turn out more like yours. 🙂
And a simple project turns into days of work!?
More often than I care to admit..
Hmmmmm. And how old are you? This sounds like the kind of problems we senior citizens encounter just about every day.
LOL! Not receiving Social Security yet!
LOL Some projects are like that! I’m sure everything looks fantastic, even if you can’t see it. 😉
Definitely looks fresher and brighter. 🙂
You were on a roll! Everything looks great!
Thanks!
I love your sunset photo! Terry and I have both agreed that you can’t just do one job. If you want to do that job it takes many jobs to get there to get it done!

I am so glad to know that I am not alone. It feels crazy at times … one thing just keeps leading to another. I’m glad you like the photo!
