No, I don’t hate the beautiful fall weather we’ve been having.
I worked outside almost all day yesterday. Nope, I don’t hate that. I needed that.
I pulled ornamental corn ears, cut down the stalks, fed the stalks to the animals, pulled back the husks on the corn and started bundling it. Beautiful. No, I don’t hate that, either.
I updated my road-side stand with a system for displaying the corn bundles. After a quick lunch, I threw some chicken in the slow-cooker for dinner and dashed back outside to find my display bent over like it was attempting a complicated yoga pose. So, I pounded a steel post into the ground and that held up the rest of the day. I didn’t hate that particularly.
I mowed, picked up sticks, and mowed some more. Didn’t hate that because it looks so much better now as the yard was looking scruffy.
I worked on a few more corn bundles, then stopped to make side-dishes to go with the chicken and had a nice supper. I was starving, so I definitely didn’t hate that.
After cleaning up the kitchen (okay, I didn’t like that, but I didn’t hate it either), I started digging holes like a puppy to plant the flowers my mom-in-law, Sharon, gave me from her beautiful flower beds. I was getting tired, but still not hating anything. After all, it is super nice to have free flowers for a bed I have been wanting to make to hide/pretti-fy the concrete septic circles. The septic system was very expensive “landscaping” but not exactly “the look” I was going for ….
Finally, after watering the new plants and picking up tools and items I had used all day, I was ready to come in for a lovely, relaxing, hot shower and a little veg-time. I am loving this. The evening had cooled off. The sky was gorgeous. A crescent moon was smiling at me. And I saw two stars shining brightly. Boom, just what I needed and hoped for.
Then, as I got ready for that shower, that much-needed, much-anticipated shower, I saw what I hate. My naked bed! I had stripped, washed and dried the sheets earlier in the day and completely forgot about them!! I still had to make up the bed! Don’t you hate that???
Well, it could have been worse. Worse is when you discover the sheets are still in the washing machine and you have to wait for them to dry before you can make up the bed. I really hate that!
So today friends, I hope you don’t get so busy doing that you forget to follow through with one of the first tasks you started in the day!
I’m really glad your sheets were dry. However, that doesn’t help a lot when one is bone-tired and ready to collapse into bed and finds it unmade.
Exactly! At least they smelled so good once I did collapse on them!
I hate that to, if I strip the bed I make the the bed straight away, lol my wife strips the bed and leaves the bed as a nice surprise for me 🙂
Ah … surprises! lol!
I am going to make my bed RIGHT THIS MINUTE! 🙂 I know what you mean though. You get so busy with the tasks all day long and then you totally forget one of the most important things! I bet you slept great last night!!!
Aw….I know it was a pain to have to remake your bed when you were SO ready to just crawl in it…. but didn’t those clean, crisp sheets just feel divine??!
You are so right! They did feel wonderful.
I’m ready for beautiful fall weather…it’s nasty wet and cold here.

I thought of you today … I heard a news story on the radio about the rain/floods in Colorado.
OH YEAH! I really HATE that!.. c
You seem very organized … can’t imagine you doing that! However, work outside does usually trump work inside!
Wow….you got a TON of things accomplished today! Even if the bed came last. Good for you!
It WAS a productive, gorgeous fall day. Thanks!
Yes! I really hate that!! Especially when I’m so tired.
It seems to always happen on a day you have worn yourself out! I guess that is how it gets forgotten anyway…
